How I Balance Blogging With A Full-Time Job

Bodysuit: Forever 21 | Pants: Missguided | Purse: Foley + Corinna | Sunglasses: Forever 21 (similar) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar) | Bandana: Mendocino (similar) I’ve recently been getting a ton of questions about blogging, such as what I use to shoot my pictures, how I edit, and how I grew my Instagram so fast. So I thought it would be fun to start a mini blogging series where I answer some blogging questions I’ve been getting. One question I have been getting a lot of lately is if I blog full-time and if not how I balance blogging. I’m sure so many blogger babes know the #struggle of trying to run a blog and trying to pay the bills. So, I’ve decided to share how I balance blogging, work and life today on the blog! Be prepared to schedule blog work before and after work (and even on your days off too!) First and foremost. Blogging is a lot of work. I would say it’s even hard work! Between shooting pictures, writing posts, responding (or trying to) respond to comments, answering emails, picking out clothes, styling flat lays, and everything in-between it just ain’t easy! But, like all businesses, consistency is key to success! When I first started blogging I would read how some bloggers would spend 80 hours a week working on their blog. Which I actually thought was a joke! As ignorant as that was. At the beginning, I thought I would spend a few hours a…

Fall Must: Wrap Top

Top: Zara | Jeans: Zara | Shoes: Aldo | Purse: Official Basso | Sunglasses: Nicole Miller | Bracelet: Paul Hewitt I can’t believe I named this post “Fall Must”, but since we are nearing the end of Summer it’s that time to start stocking on Fall items. Around mid to end of August I start buying more Fall colours, more denim and start getting my boot collection going. I’ve already added a beautiful pair of Marc Fisher knee high boots that I scored at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale that I can’t wait to show you guys!! One style goal I have for Fall is to incorporate my jeans into my wardrobe. Jeans and I haven’t always gotten along. But, lately, I have been grabbing a few good pairs of denim, like these above! I am such a huge fan of Zara anything and these jeans are no exception. They are the vintage style with the high rise, so they are super flattering. And they have a ton of stretch which is always a must in jeans for me! Okay, and this wrap top is ah-MAZING! So obsessed. If I could wear this top every. single. day. I totally would! A good wrap top for Fall is a definite must, ladies! They look so cute with high waisted denim. Suede or leather skirts. And pretty much anything, really! Which means, this will definitely not be the last wrap blouse in my closet! In fact, I’ve already been on the hunt for…

Two Ways To Style the Wide Leg Trouser for Everyday!

Bodysuit: Missguided | Trousers: Missguided (only $38!) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar) | Purse: H&M | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban I am all about versatility when it comes to my wardrobe. I need pieces that can work for me whether I’m headed to work, to date night or just running errands. Nothing is worse than having a piece in your closet that you wear once and then can’t find any reason to wear again! I am not about that life and always find a way to make my pieces work for me, every day! One of my favorite pieces in my closet right now is my wide leg trousers! They are so sophisticated and can be so fun to wear too. If you are a working lady you probably own a pair or two of these pants already! I just have an obsession with polished pieces that can go from day to night, effortlessly! Even if you aren’t in a career that requires pants like these GET THEM! They are great for a business meeting and for any upscale business event. Seriously a great staple piece! And if you have them and have never worn them outside the walls of work. Well, why not!? They are such a great piece to wear outside the 9-5 world! Here are my favorite ways to style wide leg trousers: 2 Ways To Style the Wide Leg Trouser for Play: 1. Wear a bodysuit or a “non-work” top It’s almost as if wide leg trousers and…

Top 5 Skorts for Summer

Bodysuit: Missguided | Skorts: Missguided | Clutch: H&M | Shoes: Vince | Sunglasses: Quay I remember when I was about 8 or 9 and my mom used to always dress me in skorts. I actually used to hate them and thought they were hideous. Fast forward about 20 years and the skort has made a strong comeback and is not actually cool to wear. Who would’ve thought?! I literally waited until the end of the Summer to buy a skort cause I wasn’t sure if I was ready for one, lol. I saw this one on Missguided and really loved the baby blue floral print on it. When I got it I wasn’t totally in love with it. But, after looking endlessly for something to wear for date night I decided to give this skort a go! I don’t typically wear really short things, but sometimes it’s nice to show a little extra leg for date night! Now I am totally obsessed with this skort not only because it’s extremely cute. But it’s so incredibly soft and easy to move around in. (Plus, it makes your legs look a million miles long!) That being said, here are my top 5 fave skorts for Summer or date night!: Top 5 Skorts for Summer: Missguided Revolve Shopbop Nordstrom Boohoo xo Lauren

How To Accessorize Minimally in 3 Easy Steps!

Dress: Marshalls | Shoes: Sam Edelman | Purse: H&M | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Choker: Mejuri  As you guys probably know, I am not huge into accessories and being blinged out, lol! I prefer keeping things minimal (hint the name Basic Babe) and classic. I’ve always had a bit of a love hate relationship with accessorizing because it feels like a must to finish off an outfit. But, at the same time, I don’t like wearing too much jewellery! For awhile I jumped on the band wagon of always wearing a watch, a statement necklace (are they still in?!), and sometimes earrings to complete my look. One of my favourite style icons, Lauren Conrad, definitely gave me some major inspo on this as she is pretty minimalistic when it comes to accessorizing herself! And as my style evolved I decided to take a whole new approach to the accessorizing part of my closet and try an LC. Which ultimately was keeping my jewellery simple and using other parts of my outfit to speak up! That being said, here are my 3 go-to steps to accessorizing my outfit minimally! How To Accessorize Minimally in 3 Easy Steps: 1. Get a purse with its own accessories! Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably seen that Chloe bag with the gold bracelet attached to it. And for those who haven’t here, it is here! It literally is to die for! Now, my budget sadly doesn’t allow for a beautiful purse like this. But…

Summer Crush: The White Midi Skirt

Bodysuit: Boohoo (my fave ‘skinny’ bodysuit!) | Skirt: Boohoo (sale!) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar) | Purse: Foley + Corinna | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Bracelet: Paul Hewitt I would say I am a definite skirt girl through and through. I love the ease of wearing skirts and the endless pairing options wearing skirts come with. But, like most women, I have a type I tend to always gravitate to. And that would be the mini skirt. I’ve been a huge fan of the mini skirt for years now, probably since high school. But as I’m getting older, I’m finding I want pieces that are classier and have more coverage! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not giving up the mini, I’ve just fallen in love with the midi skirt! Now, depending on your height midi’s may not be for you. I feel like I just make the cut off at 5″5 and if I was any shorter I may have really made myself look short! What I love about wearing a midi skirt is how classy you feel! It really makes you feel like a lady, lol. I know that’s totally lame but it definitely gives off total feminine vibes. This one here is from Boohoo and I paired it with one of my favourite bodysuits (makes you like like 10x smaller!). The skirt fits TTS but the bodysuit is a little snug if you order your true size. I mean it’s a bodysuit so it should be snug, but if you’d…

Dress: Shein (SOLD OUT – similar here) | Shoes: Sam Edelman | Clutch: H&M | Sunglasses: Nicole Miller c/o | Bracelet: Paul Hewitt c/o Lately, I have been reading a lot of people who either shop at Shein and have the worst luck with the pieces they buy. Or others who would love to shop at Shein but are overwhelmed with it! I, personally, have been shopping at Shein since it was Sheinside and before I started blogging! I honestly have had more luck with Shein than not. But, I do know a lot of people who struggle with finding the right pieces and sizes. Since I tend to be an avid Shein customer, I thought I would share the 4 easy tips I use when I buy at Shein. You can also use these tips for any other retailer too. As they are just good rules of thumb to stick buy when online shopping! 4 Easy Tips You Need to Shop at Shein: 1. Know your measurements! It always shocks me when people don’t know their measurements when they shop online! First things first, no matter what online retailer you’re shopping with you need to know your measurements. It’s fast and easy to do. Measure your hips, waist, bust and write it down on a piece of paper near your computer. Or save it on your phone! I alwaaaaaaaays cross check my measurements before selecting a size and putting it in my cart! I also periodically re-measure myself every so often just…

Favourite T-Shirt of the Season

Top: Urban Outfitters (similar here and here) | Skirt: Ruche (similar) | Shoes: Aldo (on sale!) | Purse: Old Navy | Sunglasses: Forever 21 (similar) I am definitely not a super casual girl! The only time you’ll find me in a tee and yoga pants is when I’m walking my dogs or running to the grocery store after work. I just am a huge lover of dressing up and putting on a cute pair of heels! That being said, I do believe in having a few cute tee’s to mix in with your skirts or shorts! This tee here is basically my only “good” t-shirt to be honest that I wear with everything! I just can never bring myself to buy more than one t-shirt at a time really, I know, super weird! Anyways, this is actually a peplum tee, which is what I love most about it! And it is seriously the comfiest and most stylish tee that goes with basically everything. One of my favourite outfits that I wear on repeat is this tee, my fave pair of white jeans, a pair of sandals and this hat here! It makes the easiest and most effortless look imaginable. I also love how this t-shirt washes (amazing!). It hold’s its shape and just keeps on getting softer and softer with every wash! I got it a few months back and it’s just making it to the blog now, but I’ll link similar. Verdict: even if you aren’t a t-shirt girl like me, you…
