How I Gained 20,000 REAL Instagram Followers in 6 Months – Part 2

It’s been over a month since I started this blogging series! Thanks for your patience, I know so many people have been waiting for part 2 to be published. I’ve had so many other projects on the go, including Shop Basic Babe, that it took me longer than anticipated to sit down and write this post. But, alas, here it is! Part 2. Part 2 – How to Edit: When I first started on Instagram I had no idea how to edit! I would spend hours scrolling through different accounts and admire all these beautiful feeds. Thinking, I wish I knew how to edit or what apps to use! At first, I got a little discouraged and thought maybe editing was just not for me. I read so many different blog posts about how to edit and they were ALL so generic. None of them gave specific advice on what filters they use. What their editing process was. If they used more then one edit. And the list goes on and on. When I first started editing I definitely over edited every picture. I wanted a bright clean feed. And thought that meant raising the exposure like crazy, lol! I actually had NO idea what I was doing. I dabbled in so many different editing programs, trying to figure out how Blogger XYZ achieved that look on her Instagram. It probably took me until last Summer to really figure out how to edit my pictures to the way I like. And…

Top 5 Oversized Cardigans

Cardigan: Basic Babe |  Top: Basic Babe | Skirt: Basic Babe | Boots: Marc Fisher (sold out – similar) | Purse: Le Chateau | Hat: H&M The Christmas countdown is seriously on in the Sheriff home. I’m the type of person who doesn’t get excited about something until a couple days away! And I can now, safely say, I am SO excited for Christmas! All my Christmas shopping is done, so now I can look forward to time with the family and celebrating the reason for the season! I can’t wait!! 🙂 One essential in my closet, for Wintertime, is an oversized cardi. There are so many different types of oversized cardigans and I like to try and have them all, lol! The most classic oversized cardigan, that you probably know and love, is the soft and long cosy cardi. Which is a definite essential in chilly weather. I also love a sophisticated oversized cardi for meetings, work, etc. Something you can throw over your outfit, be comfortable but still look professional. That’s one of the reasons I love the Marissa cardi from Shop Basic Babe. I always love having a piece that can go from work to play. I think it’s so important to have pieces that look professional but can be worn casually too! That being said, here are my top 5 favourite oversized cardi’s of the season: Top 5 Oversized Cardigans: Basic Babe Revolve H&M Goodnight Macaroon Boohoo xo Lauren

I mean, December FLEW by! Usually, I’m done my Christmas shopping already. But I still have a few gifts and stocking stuffers to go!! So last minute this year. Here in Toronto, we’ve gotten quite a bit of snow for December. I’m not a snow kind-of-gal. But I love a white Christmas so I’m not complaining! I just hope it sticks or that we get a fresh coat of snow on Christmas eve! How magical would that be?! Something about white snow and blush pink get me all giddy inside, lol. I think it just looks so fresh. And most people this time of year stick to dark tones, which I like. But blush is just SO good this time of year! This faux fur jacket is from my store Shop Basic Babe. I am always looking for soft fur that feels warm and extra cosy to wear. And I have to say this jacket hits all the marks! I wore this outside with the Maya Puffy sleeve top and it was warm enough for me! I loved how it paired together, so chic! The jacket is under $50 and the top is only $39! Do you guys like wearing blush in the Winter? Let me know in the…

Trending: Plaid Everything

Top: Basic Babe | Skirt: Basic Babe | Boots: Forever 21 (not online – similar here) | Purse: Le Chateau So if you want to know one trend you need to buy this Fall and Winter season. I would say plaid ANYTHING. Hands down. Easy! Plaid has been literally everywhere, in every store and on basically everybody! Don’t think you can pull off plaid? Well, you’re definitely wrong! Plaid is one of those prints that suit everybody! Doesn’t matter your colour, size or style. Plaid is the choice! As you can tell I love plaid, lol. But I didn’t fall back into plaid until recently! You guys, you know I’m into effortless and easy pieces. And plaid is seriously the easiest way to look pulled together and trendy in one easy step! And you don’t have to get a plaid skirt. Plaid blazers and pants are also super hot right now too! My recommendation would be to try the skirt if you’re unsure about how to pull off a plaid pant. Skirts are much easier and can look styled more simply then the plaid pant! But, that’s just my opinion! And don’t be surprised if you see me in a plaid blazer soon cause that will probably happen shortly. Okay, I need to end the blog post here cause I just typed plaid 13 times, it’s late in my defence lol! PS.. both pieces are from Shop Basic Babe and they’re both under $50! Linked above!  xo Lauren

HUGE Life Update!

Guys, I am beyond excited to announce the launch of my very own online store Basic Babe! I’ve been working on this project SO hard for the past couple of months. So to see it come to life is beyond amazing. Basic Babe is seriously my passion and I can’t believe I get to have my own online store that embodies my style and belief! Shop Basic Babe is for the woman looking for affordable, effortless and versatile pieces (cause you guy’s know that’s my thang)! My vision for Shop Basic Babe is a store that is an extension of a woman’s worth because I don’t believe your clothes define who you are. But are an extension of who you are! I just wanted to have an online shop that would be practical and effortless for women. So many online shops sell clothes that are so low cut, tight and just not practical in my opinion, lol! So enough with my rambling and here are my favourite pieces from the shop! And we ship WORLDWIDE too! (also scroll to the bottom of a discount code) Ella Velvet Dress – $44 Knotted Front Skirt – $40 Bubble Sleeve Sweater Dress – $34 Cara Maxi Dress -$45 Double Layer Suede Skirt – $45 Plaid Asymmetric Skirt – $46 / Ruffle Detail Blouse – $44 Heather Grey Oversized Cardi – $40 Amber OTS Flutter Sleeve Bodysuit – $49 Time To Wine Down Pullover – $69 These are just a few of my faves! Faux Fur + High Waisted Jeans

Jacket: H&M | Top: Zara (similar) | Jeans: Zara | Boots: Aldo (similar) | Purse: Aldo Happy hump day, babes!! If you haven’t already noticed, I am loving all things faux fur! Would I say it’s an obsession? Um, yes, definitely! I honestly can’t get enough faux fur in the winter for its style and warmth. And trust me, this particular jacket is WARM! I’ve been wearing so much faux fur lately it’s not even funny! I just wrote a blog post, last week I think, rounding up my top 5 faux furs. So if you’re as crazy as I am about this furry goodness then click here to read! There are just so many good pieces of faux fur this season it’s hard to choose. So why not buy a few? Lol! Another obsession of mine has been Zara’s high waisted jeans. They are SO good! I don’t like to spend an arm and a leg buying jeans. So Zara is usually my go-to for jeans under $50! But, this season, in particular, their high waisted jean game has been on point! These pair above are my third pair of high waisted jeans from Zara and I just can’t get enough! So if you’re looking for a flattering pair, that won’t break your budget and that is available in different washes. Also, my surprise will be revealed this week! EEEK…! xo Lauren
