My Favourite Romper of the Summer

Romper | Shoes | Purse I am a dress girl through and through. There is nothing better than wearing a light and flowy dress on a hot Summer day. My go-to look for hot Summer days is a dress and a pair of cute heels. But, this cute little romper (dress look alike) is definitely giving me ALL the feels for Summer. K, I like rompers for Summer. But I honestly don’t LOVE them. For one, I hate using the washroom for them, lol.  And for two, sometimes they just don’t have that pulled together look I want. BUT, this Adelyn Rae romper is seriously next level. Firstly, it looks like a dress. Secondly, it is SO flattering. And thirdly, you can dress it up for date night or down for the day. When I received this romper a few weeks ago I was in love and knew it was going to be my go-to romper, easy. I personally love the top and how one side is a spaghetti strap and the other has a sleeve. Small details can really make a massive difference! If you need a cute and versatile romper for Summer, then babe, here ya go! The quality is amazing, it’s comfy and so good for any Summer plans you may have! Have a great long weekend! xo Lauren SaveSaveSaveSave

Canada Day Long Weekend at The Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls, New York!

Long weekends are the perfect road tripping and shopping weekends, in my opinion! If you have no plans for this upcoming long weekend or are looking for some GOOD sales, then girl, I gotch-ya. Cause the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls, New York is the perfect destination for some good shopping and good times! Every single time I hit up the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls, New York I ALWAYS (and I mean always) go to Saks Off 5th and Forever 21 first. Do we have both these stores in Canada? Yes, we do! But we DO NOT have the same prices! Every single time I go to Saks Off 5th at Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls New York I always snag a few pairs of designer shoes for under $50. I just snagged a pair of Nine West wedges (scroll down to my last outfit to see them) for $29 (regularly $100+) and Steve Madden sandals for $39 (regularly $80+). And believe it or not, the Sam Edelman sandals I’m wearing above I also snagged at this very Saks Off 5th for $29! For real, guys! Not only do I love how the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls New York has 200+ designer stores with up to 75% off every day. But the mall is upscale, airy and comfortable. And they offer SO many stores we don’t have here in Canada. Such as Pac Sun, Charlotte Russe and Francesca’s to name a few. Qais’ favorite store, hands down, is…

Top 5 “Button Up” Dresses

What a weird week! We’ve been having some MAJOR June gloom here in Toronto. It’s been cold, grey and honestly just depressing! I was freezing shooting this look and I am so ready for this warm weather to stick around. I mean it’s going to be Summer in a few weeks! Get it together Mother Nature, lol! So one of my favorite pieces in my closet lately has been this little white dress! I’m not sure what the “real” name of this dress is. But we’ll just call it the button up dress. These dresses have been SO popular this Spring season and I’m all about it! The button detailing just adds that extra oomph and it really does scream Summer. I’ve linked my 5 favorite button up dresses for this season… Top 5 “Button Up” Dresses: Zara (buying this one next) Revolve Asos Free People Nordstrom xo Lauren SaveSaveSaveSave SaveSave SaveSave

Currently Crushing On: ALL things Zara

Top | Pants | Bralette | Shoes Can you guys believe it’s hump day already!? Where is this week going! It’s been one of those weeks that are blowing by and I feel like I’m not accomplishing anything, which is the worst! Hopefully, I can get back on track with all my work, getting my house ready to sell and getting pre-approved for a mortgage (which is more work then I remember, lol). Anyways, back to all things fashion, I’ve been LOVING Zara this season. Like, I’ve always been a huge fan of Zara. But DANG they are really killing it this season. I literally can’t get over their collection this season. And, this is no joke, I’ve gone to Zara once a week for the past 4 weeks. Which is excessive, I know, but SO necessary with their on-point pieces! Both my crochet top and trousers are from Zara. The top is just perfect for hot Summer days. And these trousers are sooooo comfy! Like, I’m not wearing pants comfy. You probably need to snag them, lol. I’ve linked both above and some similar options below! 🙂 xo Lauren

Mixing Summer and Fall Pieces

Bodysuit: Missguided | Skirt: Boohoo | Bag: Similar | Watch: Daniel Wellington c/o | Sunglasses: Shades Crush c/o | Shoes: J Adams c/o Happy Monday! It has been BRUTALLY hot here in Toronto. Summer decided to come at Fall, which is great, and I’ll take it, but it would’ve been nice to have this weather last month, lol! When I shot this look I was seriously dripping sweat. I don’t know why I decided to wear a sweater bodysuit, but hey, in the name of fashion, right? The one perk about this warm Summer weather is getting a little extra wear out of my Summer wardrobe. I love incorporating Summer pieces where I can and they can sometimes make the cutest outfits! I bought this gingham skirt from Boohoo in July (I think). Gingham has been huge this past season and I really love the print! I’ve also been adding in some long sleeves and sweaters for Fall. When I saw this mustard rib bodysuit from Missguided I knew it had to be mine. I love bodysuits and not having to keep tucking my top in. Plus, the off the shoulder on this bodysuit just makes it that much more fun! Also, I think it’s time for a few new purses here at Basic Babe!! I’ve been rocking the same few non-stop all Summer. Does anyone else have a hard time find purses they love to add to the rotation?! xo Lauren

How I Balance Blogging With A Full-Time Job

Bodysuit: Forever 21 | Pants: Missguided | Purse: Foley + Corinna | Sunglasses: Forever 21 (similar) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar) | Bandana: Mendocino (similar) I’ve recently been getting a ton of questions about blogging, such as what I use to shoot my pictures, how I edit, and how I grew my Instagram so fast. So I thought it would be fun to start a mini blogging series where I answer some blogging questions I’ve been getting. One question I have been getting a lot of lately is if I blog full-time and if not how I balance blogging. I’m sure so many blogger babes know the #struggle of trying to run a blog and trying to pay the bills. So, I’ve decided to share how I balance blogging, work and life today on the blog! Be prepared to schedule blog work before and after work (and even on your days off too!) First and foremost. Blogging is a lot of work. I would say it’s even hard work! Between shooting pictures, writing posts, responding (or trying to) respond to comments, answering emails, picking out clothes, styling flat lays, and everything in-between it just ain’t easy! But, like all businesses, consistency is key to success! When I first started blogging I would read how some bloggers would spend 80 hours a week working on their blog. Which I actually thought was a joke! As ignorant as that was. At the beginning, I thought I would spend a few hours a…

Two Ways To Style the Wide Leg Trouser for Everyday!

Bodysuit: Missguided | Trousers: Missguided (only $38!) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar) | Purse: H&M | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban I am all about versatility when it comes to my wardrobe. I need pieces that can work for me whether I’m headed to work, to date night or just running errands. Nothing is worse than having a piece in your closet that you wear once and then can’t find any reason to wear again! I am not about that life and always find a way to make my pieces work for me, every day! One of my favorite pieces in my closet right now is my wide leg trousers! They are so sophisticated and can be so fun to wear too. If you are a working lady you probably own a pair or two of these pants already! I just have an obsession with polished pieces that can go from day to night, effortlessly! Even if you aren’t in a career that requires pants like these GET THEM! They are great for a business meeting and for any upscale business event. Seriously a great staple piece! And if you have them and have never worn them outside the walls of work. Well, why not!? They are such a great piece to wear outside the 9-5 world! Here are my favorite ways to style wide leg trousers: 2 Ways To Style the Wide Leg Trouser for Play: 1. Top 5 Skorts for Summer

Bodysuit: Missguided | Skorts: Missguided | Clutch: H&M | Shoes: Vince | Sunglasses: Quay I remember when I was about 8 or 9 and my mom used to always dress me in skorts. I actually used to hate them and thought they were hideous. Fast forward about 20 years and the skort has made a strong comeback and is not actually cool to wear. Who would’ve thought?! I literally waited until the end of the Summer to buy a skort cause I wasn’t sure if I was ready for one, lol. I saw this one on Missguided and really loved the baby blue floral print on it. When I got it I wasn’t totally in love with it. But, after looking endlessly for something to wear for date night I decided to give this skort a go! I don’t typically wear really short things, but sometimes it’s nice to show a little extra leg for date night! Now I am totally obsessed with this skort not only because it’s extremely cute. But it’s so incredibly soft and easy to move around in. (Plus, it makes your legs look a million miles long!) That being said, here are my top 5 fave skorts for Summer or date night!: Top 5 Skorts for Summer: Missguided Revolve Shopbop Nordstrom Boohoo xo Lauren

Summer Crush: The White Midi Skirt

Bodysuit: Boohoo (my fave ‘skinny’ bodysuit!) | Skirt: Boohoo (sale!) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar) | Purse: Foley + Corinna | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Bracelet: Paul Hewitt I would say I am a definite skirt girl through and through. I love the ease of wearing skirts and the endless pairing options wearing skirts come with. But, like most women, I have a type I tend to always gravitate to. And that would be the mini skirt. I’ve been a huge fan of the mini skirt for years now, probably since high school. But as I’m getting older, I’m finding I want pieces that are classier and have more coverage! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not giving up the mini, I’ve just fallen in love with the midi skirt! Now, depending on your height midi’s may not be for you. I feel like I just make the cut off at 5″5 and if I was any shorter I may have really made myself look short! What I love about wearing a midi skirt is how classy you feel! It really makes you feel like a lady, lol. I know that’s totally lame but it definitely gives off total feminine vibes. This one here is from Boohoo and I paired it with one of my favourite bodysuits (makes you like like 10x smaller!). The skirt fits TTS but the bodysuit is a little snug if you order your true size. I mean it’s a bodysuit so it should be snug, but if you’d…
