Seriously, the trends this Spring and Summer season are amaaaazing and I can’t get enough! I feel like these styles may be my favorite in a long time and I hope they stick around for a bit! I love when I find a good combo that just works. And this combo works! PS… If you are looking for a good everyday mule you need these ones from Aldo! Spring Fave: OTS Dress!

Dress: H&M (old – but love this one here!) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe | Purse: Aldo (similar here) | Sunglasses: Quay  | Choker: Aldo (similar here) | Watch: Rosefield Happy Monday! Unless you’ve been living under a rock you would know that OTS everything is huge! I have been loving the OTS (off-the-shoulder for those not in the know 😉 ) dresses since last Spring/Summer and I’m so happy this trend is here to stay! The dress I’m wearing is from H&M from last Summer. It’s actully a pretty cool dress because it can be worn OTS (as seen above) or with straps. I love this olive green colour for days I’m not feeling black or colour. It’s loose and flowy, and can be easily worn with pretty much any accessory, purse or shoe! This look to me is a laid-back date night look. Perfect for sipping some cocktails on the patio and indulging in some Mexican food (slight obsession with Mexican food over here!). Since I can’t link this exact dress, I’ve linked other muted and laid back OTS dresses!

Spring Must: Distressed Denim Skirt (under $40!)

Top: Forever 21 (similar here and here) | Skirt: Missy Empire c/o (only $32!) | Shoes: Aldo (under $100) | Purse: Aldo (similar here) | Sunglasses: Quay | Watch: Rosefield  Happy Friday guys! If you’ve been following my blog or Instagram you know I am LOVING denim for this Spring. In my last post, here, I explain how I wasn’t loving the denim dress trend until recently. And now I’m loving the denim skirt trend big time! In the past month, or so, I’ve purchased a few different denim skirts. Everything from white embroidered (read the post here), and super distressed white (read the post here), to a classic black denim skirt. It wasn’t until I received this skirt from Missy Empire until I really fell in love with the denim skirt trend. All of the skirts I mention above I really do love. But, this Missy Empire denim skirt fits so so so good! It fit’s truly like a glove, which is unlike the other skirts I wore above. I’m not saying my other skirts fit poorly (I would say the F21 skirt does actually, lol, more on that skirt probably next week). But this skirt just fits AMAZINGLY! It fit’s TTS and really gives your body a nice hour glass shape. SO, if you haven’t bought a denim skirt for the season buy this one!! I promise it won’t disappoint and I love the off center slit it has in the front, super chic! And you can really pair…

My Top 5 Denim Dresses for Spring!

Dress: Boohoo (only $35!) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe | Purse: BP (similar here) | Sunglasses: Shades Crush c/o Okay, I know I say this a lot buuuut….. I have a new obsession! Denim dresses! I have to say at first I wasn’t completely sold on wearing denim as a dress. Heck, I barely wear denim as jeans. BUT, I decided to give it a go and see if I liked it or not! And I have to say, I. Am. SOLD! So I first started considering denim dresses when I saw Dress Up Buttercup wear it here. I loved it but didn’t think I could pull it off! I kept thinking about this dress over and over (clearly I need to get a life, lol!). And wanted to buy it but didn’t want to spend that much on a dress I loved but didn’t know if I would love on me. When I was shopping the Boohoo sale a few weeks back (everything was 50% off!), I saw this chambray dress I’m wearing. It looked cute, easy to wear and super easy to style. So I made the plunge and added the darker wash to my cart! When I first tried it on I was 100% loving it. And disclaimer, I don’t love the 3/4 length sleeves on this dress. They are super tight and don’t button up! But, other then the sleeves I absolutely love this dress! It’s really more of a chambray dress then denim, but I think it’s close enough! It’s a great dress…

The Perfect Stripe Top (under $50)

Top: Goodnight Macaroon c/o (available in 3 colours!) | Jeans: Zara (old – similar here) | Shoes: Forever 21 (similar here) | Sunglasses: Shades Crush c/o | Purse: Le Chateau (under $50!) Happy Monday! Today Qais and I are going south of the border to Buffalo to do a little shopping, and I am so excited! I don’t usually get two days in a row off so we’re just excited to spend today shopping and exploring. I wore this look last week to church and I have to say this is my new “just throw on and go” outfit. I’m surprisingly not a huge fan of stripes, so for me to buy a striped shirt I have to LOVE it! When I saw this top on Goodnight Macaroon, I instantly loved it. I loved the pleats and the knit fabric and loved how it came in navy, purple and white (so cute!). As for fit, it is one size fits all. I would say it fits more like a medium. But if you wear a size small it will just be flowy but super cute! It come’s in three different colours and is really so comfortable to wear! It’s a great shirt to dress up with a pair of jeans and heels. Or with a pair of cutoff shorts and sandals. Overall, if you aren’t a huuuuge stripe fan, like moi, I do believe this top may just change your views!

Spring Fave: Faux Suede Midi Skirt (under $20!)

Top: Old (but would love this top here with it!) | Skirt: Make Me Chic c/o (under $20!) | Purse: Hieleven | Watch: Daniel Wellington c/o (use code ‘LAURENEVA’ for 15% off your order!) | Sunglasses: Shades Crush c/o | Shoes: Steve Madden :Yay for Friday and for it almost being the weekend! I actually work every Saturday so the weekends don’t get me too excited. But what does get me excited is a killer skirt that is flattering, cute and under $20 (say whaaaat!). You can’t go wrong with a skirt that makes you look model tall, model thin and won’t break the bank! When I saw this skirt on Make Me Chic I loved it but I was unsure with how it would work for Spring. I was also worried about how flattering it would be since I’m a girl who loves a good mini skirt (see every other blog post, lol!). That being said, I decided to give it a try and see if I could style it for Spring. And I have to say I am loving the look and will definitely be adding this in my Spring wardrobe rotation. This skirt is faux suede and it’s made out of a very light weight material. So if your wondering if it’s appropriate for Spring weather, I say yes it is girl! It fit’s true to size and has a nice form fitting shape. The only thing I would do differently is wear it with a bodysuit since this top…

Palm Print Slip Dress (the perfect Summer dress!)

Dress: Goodnight Macaroon c/o (on sale!!) | Jacket: H&M (sold out – similar here) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe  | Purse: Similar | Sunglasses: Shades Crush ($10!!) Happy hump day and I hope everyone is having a great week so far! With Spring being in full fledge swing I’ve been adding new colourful pieces into my wardrobe! If you read my post on Monday you would know that I am trying to get out of my black, white and grey comfort zone and try new colours and styles for the season. One of the new colours being hot pink on this dress. But, as a girl who loves herself a good palm print I was willing to make an exception! I posted this dress last week on Easter and got such a amazing response to it! It seems that this may be my most popular dress to date and I can totally see why. It’s a simple slip on dress that let’s the print do all the speaking. And it is really easy to wear and style with anything. I have to admit that both times I’ve worn this dress (both of these shots are in the same location but 2 different days) I’ve forgotten to accessorize it. I guess I’m not called Basic Babe for nothing, lol. Anyways, you can find this dress on Goodnight Macaroon annnnd it’s currently on sale! It fits true to size and hits right above the knee. It’s so comfortable and I’m planning to dress it down…

My Top 5 Embroidered Skirts for Spring!

Bodysuit: Boohoo (only $16!) | Skirt: Boohoo | Shoes: Le Chateau (similar here and here) | Purse: Aldo (similar here) | Sunglasses: Aldo (similar here) So this Spring I decided I wanted to try as many trends as I can. I mean the fact that my blog is called Basic Babe tells you I like to keep my outfits pretty ‘basic’ most of time. As in, I don’t wear a lot of accessories, I don’t mix crazy patterns, and I definitely don’t jump on every trend! But that being said, having this blog is definitely pushing me outside of my comfort zone which has been a really good thing! I’m finding myself more interested in trying new trends and new styles more then ever before! Not that this trend is a crazy one by any means, but, I do believe it is a trend that can easily be worn and styled by just about anyone. Florals are an obvious given in Springtime for most which makes embroirded florals a pretty easy trend to love! When I saw the embroiderery trend begin last Fall I definitely didn’t think I’d be into it. It reminded me of my childhood and all the embroidered denim my mom bought for me. At the time, embroidered denim was kinda cool but I just couldn’t shake thinking of elementary school when I looked at it. I can’t say I’m all in with this embroidered trend just quite yet. But I am loving embroidered denim skirts like no tomorrow!…

Spring Fave: Tie Up Pencil Skirt

Top: Zara (similar here and on sale!) | Skirt: Zara (similar here, here, here) | Shoes: Steve Madden (stiletto version here) | Purse: BP (sold out – similar here) | Sunglasses: Shades Crush (only $15!) Happy Friday! Today’s post is all about my love for the classic, and most flattering skirt, the pencil skirt. I’m a lover of the pencil skirt for many reasons but mostly because of it’s undeniable good fit on everybody! So this pencil skirt is my favourite pencil skirt for Spring for one reason and one reason only. It hide’s my Winter/holiday tummy that I am trying to get into shape for bikini season, but haven’t quite yet, lol! And it’s so easy to dress up with a blouse and dress down with a bell sleeve top like the one I’m wearing above. It’s just such an effortless piece that really is a no-brainer on days I need to look more put together but have no idea what to wear! I actually got this skirt a few years back at Zara and was pleasantly surprised to see that this particular style of pencil skirt is still in. Luckily, so many retailers are offering pretty much identical skirts to this one which I’ve linked above and below! This top is also from Zara but I’ve linked other similar ones too! I’ve gotten a few questions about these Steve Madden shoes and how they fit! I personally think they are comfortable because of the block heel and they’ve become…

Spring Must: The Perfect LBD + A Discount Code!

Dress:NA-KD c/o (under $100 and 20% off with coupon code ‘LAURENS20’) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar here) | Choker: Aldo | Purse: Aldo (similar here) | Sunglasses: Aldo (similar here) Happy #humpday! If you follow me on Instagram or here on my blog, you’d see I’ve been obsessing over the pieces I got from NA-KD.com! I got the perfect Summer sweater (you can view the post here) and this amazing LBD that I am craaazy about! I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect LBD for a little while now. I am a big believer in having at least one amazing LBD in your closet. A LBD is so versatile and I specifically wanted one I could wear out for date night on warm Summer evenings. So when I saw that this one was a shift dress (I’m a huge lover of shift dresses!) and had a plunging back, I knew I had to have it! Plus, I am a total sucker for knots or bows at the back so that was a win too, lol! This dress can totally be dressed up or down. I plan to wear it with some gladiator sandals later in the season to give it more of a casual vibe. But, I love this dress with these heels! Even Qais said it was one of his favorite dresses that I own! As for fit it is true to size. It is on the shorter side and has some gaping in between my…
