Trend to Try: Velvet for Spring

Dress | Shoes (similar) | Purse Velvet is a trend I haven’t been able to get enough of! I’m not usually a velvet kind of gal. But this season, I swear velvet styles have been SO good! I’ve purchased so many velvet dresses for weddings and for holidays. And I’m planning to continue to wear as much velvet as possible until temps truly warm up! If you haven’t tried velvet yet you are totally missing out! This past season velvet has been one of the hottest fabrics. And you can basically find any style in velvet. No matter what your personal style is, I guarantee there is a velvet piece out there for you! If you are a little hesitant with velvet, try a dress. A guest of wedding dress in a beautiful plush velvet fabric is beyond gorgeous. And so classy, in my opinion! I wore this velvet number to a wedding in November. And I am totally feeling wearing this velvet dress for another wedding I’m going to at the end of the month! All you need is a good nude heel and you are good to go! Any velvet pieces your loving lately? xo Lauren

Bodysuits and Straight Leg Denim

Bodysuit | Jeans | Boots (similar) | Clutch Happy Monday, from New York City! I’m here for a quick trip for some Shop Basic Babe buying for Spring/Summer 2018. New York City always leaves me inspired and motivated to get back to the grind and to continue chasing my dreams! Who else loves NYC as much as I do?! Who else also loves this bodysuit trend and hope’s it stays forever?! I’ve always been the type to tuck in all my shirts and blouses. So this bodysuit thang can definitely stay. It just makes looking put together SO much easier! I am also loving the deep v, stripes and bell sleeves on this bodysuit. This top is seriously my cup of tea and I love how ridiculously easy it is to style! Also, if you haven’t hoped on the straight leg jean trend yet, why not?! They are totally fab and really make a look. It’s all about finding the right fit for your body though. These GRLFRND jeans are truly the perfect straight leg jean. And if you don’t mind the splurge I highly recommend them! Anyways, I’m off to the show to do some buying and I am planning on doing some damage, lol!! xo Lauren Thanks to Shein for collaborating with me on this post!

Trend to Try: The Pajama Shirt

Bodysuit | Jeans | Boots (similar) | Jacket | Purse Honestly, who would have thought it would be cool to wear your pajamas out in public? I mean in elementary school I always avoided pajama day cause I thought it was strange, lol. I clearly thought pajamas were for sleeping only and it took awhile for me to jump on this new trend! I’ve been seeing this trend everywhere lately! And it honestly hasn’t tickled my fancy. Most of the pajama trend has a lot of big prints on them. And as you guys know, I’m not a print kind of gal. But when I was at Zara last weekend I found this beauty and knew I had to have it! Firstly, I LOVE bodysuits so that was the first win. Secondly, it’s white and neutrals are always a win! After trying this on with my favourite jeans I am now officially a love of the pajama trend. And not to mention the materials for this pajama trend is silky (or faux silk in my case) goodness. Because I think you should try this trend too (why not?), I’ve linked a few fave pajama tops below. And no worries I didn’t link any crazy prints or colours! 😉   xo Lauren

Jacket | Bodysuit | Jeans | Purse | Boots (similar) I finally jumped on the leopard coat bandwagon and it feels SO good! I’ve been eyeing the perfect and affordable leopard coat forever now. I mean selection is everything when you’re about to freeze your buns off, lol! Luckily, the day I shot this it was really mild. So I was super toasty in this coat! It’s cold again here in Toronto so it might be awhile until this baby comes back out! But in the meantime, here are my top 5 leopard coats and most are on SALE and under $100! Currently Crushing On: Florals and Faux Fur

Jacket | Dress | Boots | Purse As you guys probably already know, I love faux fur and I love florals! It’s just one of my go-to pieces that I swear by. So I recently decided to combine my two faves with a pretty cute Winter outfit, if I do say so myself! And not only is this the faux fur jacket of my dreams because of the size and colour. But it is really SO warm! Perfect for bitter cold days. The dress I’m wearing is from Shein and it’s kind of like a faux wrap dress if you will! It actually just buttons on the side instead of actually wrapping. Which I really liked. It is a little low cut, so keep that in mind if you want to buy it! You can’t see it above because of my jacket, but it has kind of like mini bell sleeves. Which is super chic! If you don’t think this outfit was warm for what the weather looks like outside. You’re probably right, lol! I shot this look a couple of days after coming back from the cottage, but keep in mind the temperature at the cottage was -37 degree’s Celsius (which is -34.6 Fahrenheit)! The day I shot this look it was -7, so needless to say, -7 felt warm even in this! When you’re Canadian you take what you can get lol!   xo Lauren Thanks to Shein for collaborating with me on this post!

Lady in Red

Dress | Top (similar) | Boots | Purse I don’t know if it’s because of the Holiday season that just passed, but, I’m really feeling red! I’m usually all about my neutrals but when I saw this dungaree in red I had to have it! It also comes in black too. But, I mean, the red is just so good for this time of year! I’ve been dying to get my hands on a dungaree dress for a while now. I think they are so cute and can be dressed up or down! I love, love, love the buttons on the front and the back is even cuter (which I forgot to get a picture of, sorry lol)! I would definitely pair this with tights and my sock booties for another way to style it too! If you haven’t jumped on the pinafore/overall/dungaree dress bandwagon yet, you totally should! It’s such an easy and effortless style that always looks pulled together! I recently did a post a few months back on my top 5 overall dresses, if you want to see more styles, here! xo Lauren Thanks to Shein for collaborating with me on this post!

Top 5 Faux Fur Coats

Jacket: Shein | Top: Saks Off 5th | Pants: Dynamite | Boots: Marc Fisher (sold out – similar) | Purse: H&M (similar) | Sunglasses: Shades Crush If I’m being honest, I absolutely hate the cold and the Winter! Between the snow and the freezing cold, it’s just not fun lol. Probably the only perk of the cold weather here in Toronto would be wearing really cute jackets! One jacket I always have on repeat every Winter is the faux fur jacket. And if you get it heavy enough, like the one I’m wearing, then it’ll literally take you through the whole Winter! Obviously, the fur faux is more of a fashion jacket and not meant for the bitter cold. But, it’s such a great option for date night or just over jeans and a pair of booties for running around the city! I’ve always been a fan of the faux fur jacket. And I’m pretty sure it’s one of the few things that get me through long Canadian Winters, lol! If you’re looking for the perfect casual Thanksgiving look to keep you warm and stylish, here it is! I love this burnt orange cardi paired with a off-white dress, like above, or even a pair of jeans and a tee. The tulle definitely dresses this cardigan up and it really does make the perfect holiday cardigan! Okay, so now for a little life update! Some of you may already know that I closed down my previous business. If you didn’t know, I used to own a children’s clothing store which had a physical location and was online as well. I had it for 5 years and it was time for a change, so don’t feel bad or say you’re sorry to hear! So many people keep telling me how sorry they are. But in reality, I am so ready for a change and to move on to new and exciting things. Because of my shop being closed down I am now working from home. What am I working on? Well, my blog for one. But I do have an opportunity that I am SO excited to share with you guys! Some of you may know about it already by reading my interview with Watchit Magazine. But if you don’t know yet. Don’t worry! I’ll be talking about it soon on the blog. And…

Pearl Sweater

Sweater: Shein | Skirt: Boohoo | Boots: Aldo (similar) | Purse: Similar | Sunglasses: Shades Crush Happy Monday! Qais and I had a great weekend and spent Sunday across the border doing a little shopping! One of our favorite shops to hit up is, of course, Target. We don’t have Target here in Canada anymore sadly so all Target trips are now extra special, lol! I snagged so many good deals at the Fashion Outlets of Niagara too and will be blogging about it soon. Pearl anything is basically my favorite trend this season. I keep slowly adding more and more pieces in with pearls. It’s just such a classic and feminine look! I posted about this pearl denim skirt that I am totally obsessed with and still wear all the time. So, when I saw this knit with pearls on it I knew it was going to easily be a favorite of mine. I love the sleeves and how heavy this sweater is! It’s going to be perfect for cold Winter days! It also comes in 3 other colors if light grey isn’t your thang. I honestly haven’t seen such a nice selection of pearl sweaters anywhere other then Shein. I mean I’ve seen a few at Anthro and Bloomingdales but those aren’t in my price range lol! I’ve linked a few other pearl sweater faves here:   xo Lauren Thanks to Shein for collaborating with me on this post!

3 Easy Tips on How To Shop Lower Priced Jackets (that look expensive!)

Jacket: Shein (only $40!) | Top: Zara | Leggings: Below the Belt (similar) | Purse: H&M (love this one here) | Sunglasses: Shades Crush Happy Friday! This week has been a whirlwind since I got back from NYC! It’s just been busy, busy, busy trying to catch up with work, life and of course the blog. Does anyone else come home from NYC 5 pounds heavier? Lol! I seriously can’t contain my appetite when I’m there! The food is just too good and I always tend to overeat and pay for it when I return home! Also, my wallet is always a lot lighter when I return home if you know what I mean, lol!! Talking about lighter wallets, I love a good jacket, but also love having a selection of jackets. That being said though, I do always splurge on my winter jacket (cause this girl can’t take the cold), but always like to have a few “fashion” jackets on hand. One of those jackets would be a moto jacket! I love a black moto jacket. They go with everything and can really turn any simple outfit into an edgy and trendy one! As much as I love the classic moto I am not always a huge fan of the price. I honestly don’t have the budget to spend $500+ on a nice leather moto jacket. As much as I’d LOVE to, I just can’t! So, I’ve learned a few tips over the years on how to shop…
