As you guys probably know, I am not huge into accessories and being blinged out, lol! I prefer keeping things minimal (hint the name Basic Babe) and classic. I’ve always had a bit of a love hate relationship with accessorizing because it feels like a must to finish off an outfit. But, at the same time, I don’t like wearing too much jewellery!

For awhile I jumped on the band wagon of always wearing a watch, a statement necklace (are they still in?!), and sometimes earrings to complete my look. One of my favourite style icons, Lauren Conrad, definitely gave me some major inspo on this as she is pretty minimalistic when it comes to accessorizing herself! And as my style evolved I decided to take a whole new approach to the accessorizing part of my closet and try an LC. Which ultimately was keeping my jewellery simple and using other parts of my outfit to speak up!

That being said, here are my 3 go-to steps to accessorizing my outfit minimally!

How To Accessorize Minimally in 3 Easy Steps:

1. Get a purse with its own accessories!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably seen that Chloe bag with the gold bracelet attached to it. And for those who haven’t here, it is here! It literally is to die for! Now, my budget sadly doesn’t allow for a beautiful purse like this. But luckily, purses with chain straps and beautiful gold/silver hardware are so easy to come by! When I’m wearing a somewhat basic outfit, like above, I always pull this mini H&M crossbody bag out! The strap speaks for itself and I always get so many compliments when wearing this purse out. I say, find a nice bag with some extra hardware for days you just don’t want to wear too much jewellery! Easy peasy!

I’ve rounded up some of my fave bags with hardware (including mine above in a different colour) right here:

2. The right pair of shoes will do the trick!

K guys, you know I am a shoe girl. And I am a HUGE believer in the right pair of shoes transforming your look! These strappy sandals from Sam Edelman have been my go to for simple looks. Something about the gold hardware and the nude straps justs elevates the outfit. My tip would be either find an interesting pair of shoes that speak for themselves or an embellished pair. A huge trend this season has been pearls embellished on shoes. Which I absolutely love!

Here are a few of my faves below:

3. Get your hair did!

Or just take the time to do your hair! To be honest, I could’ve done a better curl for this look. But, it was humid outside so I knew my curls would fall right on out, lol! One blogger who nails the science of hair as her accessorie is Walk in Wonderland. LOVE her dark locks, especially when she lets her curls go natural. It’s such a statement and such an easy way to make your outfit pulled together. My go-to hair is curls, or beach waves to finish off my look. And if you’ve never been on to Walk in Wonderlands blog, you’re totally missing out and should visit her here!

Are you an accessories type of girl or like to keep it minimal too? Let me know in the comments below!
