Lately, I have been reading a lot of people who either shop at Shein and have the worst luck with the pieces they buy. Or others who would love to shop at Shein but are overwhelmed with it! I, personally, have been shopping at Shein since it was Sheinside and before I started blogging! I honestly have had more luck with Shein than not. But, I do know a lot of people who struggle with finding the right pieces and sizes.

Since I tend to be an avid Shein customer, I thought I would share the 4 easy tips I use when I buy at Shein. You can also use these tips for any other retailer too. As they are just good rules of thumb to stick buy when online shopping!

4 Easy Tips You Need to Shop at Shein:

1. Know your measurements!

It always shocks me when people don’t know their measurements when they shop online! First things first, no matter what online retailer you’re shopping with you need to know your measurements. It’s fast and easy to do. Measure your hips, waist, bust and write it down on a piece of paper near your computer. Or save it on your phone! I alwaaaaaaaays cross check my measurements before selecting a size and putting it in my cart!

I also periodically re-measure myself every so often just to make sure my measurements are still accurate. Shein offers a size chart for every garment so I would highly recommend using it and basing your size off that. Remember, all brands are made differently so just because you’re a small in one brand doesn’t mean you’re a small across the board! Don’t worry about what size you think you are and just let the size chart do the deciding.

2. Know the garments measurements

Once you have measured yourself you need to always double check the measurements of the garments. More specifically the length, especially for shorts, skirts, and dresses. One of the biggest complaints I hear from Shein reviews is that the product is too short. This can be easily avoided by finding the length of the garment and using measuring tape to put it up against your body and seeing where it hits. Or, sometimes if I’m buying a dress, for example, I’ll use my favorite dresses length for reference to see where it’ll hit.

Do you know how many bootylicious skirts and dresses I’ve avoided by doing this? A lot. You can cross check any measurement of the garment with your favorite fitting shirt, jeans, skirts you name it. This is just an important tip in general for any online shopping, in my opinion!

3. Read the reviews and use the customer uploaded images

One thing I really love about Shein is the pictures other girls upload of themselves wearing the product. Like most online retailers, on the model product shots can be deceiving. And can be a bad way to judge how the garment will fit you! Unless you’re 6ft tall and all legs of course, lol! Now not all pieces will have images uploaded by customers wearing it. But when they do, I always take a peek at that first!

Another thing I love about Shein is all the reviews below the product. I always read this too before adding any item to the cart. You’ll read reviews on if the product fits as described, the quality of it and whether it’s worth purchasing. There are times where some product has no reviews and no customer pictures uploaded. I have bought products that had nothing for me to reference before, such as the dress I’m wearing above! Just be sure to use the two tips above before making your purchase!

4. Know the return policy

Another shocking thing to me is how many people don’t get familiar with a stores policies, in general, and return policy! It just takes a few minutes to read and will help you decide whether you want to make a purchase or not. It is so important to know the return policy so you know if you can remove the tags or not, whether certain items are final sale, and if you get a full refund or a partial refund/store credit. This will help you from frustration later. And I do believe it is a customer due diligence to understand the policy before purchasing, especially when a store has it easily accessible to find online!

Knowing the policy also helps for understanding shipping rates and times. If the company is responsible for a missing package, or not. What to do when a product is received damaged or not as expected. The policies help me with ease of mind and I always make it a habit to read them on every online retailer’s website!

And that’s it for my tips. I like to use all these tips for any online retailer I shop at. I can say I usually have pretty good success when I use them too! Do you have any tips you’d like to share about shopping at Shein? Comment them below!
