Currently Crushing On: Baby Blue for Spring!

Skirt: GoJane c/o (on sale!) | Top: Zara (old – but this top would be cute with it!) | Shoes: Forever 21 ( love these here and similar here) | Purse: Le Chateau (under $50!) | Sunglasses: Shades Crush c/o Yay for hump day! This Spring season I have been trying to experiment as much as possible with new styles and new colours. I have a strong love for black, white and grey clothes. But I really love some colour in the Spring and Summer and made it my goal to incorporate it as much as possible! Baby blue has been a pretty popular colour this season. I can’t say I have ever owned a baby blue piece before. But when I saw this baby blue tie up skirt from Go Jane I loved the colour and of course the tie up on the front. I did a previous post a few weeks back about my love for tie up skirts. You can read that post here. This skirt is such a simple skirt but the colour makes it really stand out. I love baby blue and white together so that was a no brainer for me! And I finished the look a flattering pair of heeled sandals and my favorite Chloe Faye dupe (which is under $49 BTW!). I also decided to round up a few of my favorite baby blue pieces I’m swooning over!

3 Steps For Making a Basic Outfit Not so Basic!

Top: SheIn (similar here) | Jeans: Levi’s | Shoes: Aldo | Purse: BP (similar here and on sale!) | Sunglasses: Quay Happy Monday and happy Memorial Day to all my American readers! Here in Canada, we celebrated our long weekend (which is Victoria’s Day) last weekend! Long weekends in the Spring and Summer are seriously the best and I’m already excited for the next one! Summer to me equals easy outfits that are light weight and flowy. But, I also like to just throw on a pair of jeans and a tank or an off the shoulder top in the Summer too! As much as I love dressing up, relaxed days and errands calls for a jeans and t-shirt kind of feel. Now that being said I always try to amp up my ‘basic’ outfits to make them more fun and stylish. I love wearing jeans and a plain top but honestly that can be a little boring if you don’t find ways to make it a little more fun! That being said here are my go-to tricks on making my everyday outfits waaay more fab: 3 STEPS ON MAKING A BASIC LOOK NOT SO BASIC: 1. It’s All About the Shoes Rule of thumb for most outfits is it’s all about your shoes! Shoes can most definitely make or break an outfit and for a more simple look this is no exception. When I just wear a pair of jeans and a plain top I always make sure my…

Dress: Marshalls (only $39!! – but similar here and here) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar here) | Purse: H&M (under $30!) | Earrings: Kate Spade | Sunglasses: Shades Crush c/o It’s officially wedding time and I can’t wait to attend my first wedding of the season! I absolutely love attending weddings and seeing the love in the air, eating the food and of course enjoying a few free drinks from the bar! I also love buying dresses for wedding season. And ask my hubby, each wedding I attend I need a new dress! I mean when else do you have an excuse to buy a dress and only wear it once!? I tend to splurge when it comes to buying guest-of-wedding dresses for no good reason except that I just want to, lol! But I think I found good middle ground that will keep my hubby and wallet pretty happy. I actually found this gorgeous dress I’m wearing at Marshalls for only $39! It regularly retails for $80 and is a amazing guest-of-wedding dress in my opinion! I couldn’t believe how many options for GOW that Marshalls had. I actually had to narrow down my selections! When I tried this dress on I knew it was the perfect dress to kick off the wedding season. It’s the perfect length, I love the crochet overlay and the high neck is such a nice detail to really pull the dress together. And to keep it simple I paired it with my black sandals…

Today Qais and I are enjoying our mini getaway at the cottage. We are only gone for 3 days but sometimes a mini vacation is better then none! I wore this outfit on Monday strolling through the city because I was DYING to wear these new shorts I just snagged last weekend from Urban Outfitters. But first I need to tell you about these Vince shoes I snagged from Winners! These shoes are my new babies that originally retail for $500+ and I got them for only $59! So crazy right? I have been looking for the perfect block heel strappy sandals and these are it! They are made from real suede and the heels are real wood. I’ve linked the cheapest I could find above which is under $200! Secondly, these jean shorts are life! I have been looking for light wash high waisted jean shorts that would give me all the 90’s feels. The fit is beyond amazing and they are under $60 so you can’t go wrong. They fit true to size and have the perfect butt coverage (I hate when butt cheeks show when wearing shorts, lol!). Basically, these shorts and these Vince sandals are going to be on major repeat all season long!  I totally vouch for…

I love a good long weekend and this weekend is actually extra long for Qais and I. We will be leaving for the cottage tomorrow (so excited!) for two nights away from the hustle and bustle of life! The cottage we go to is a cottage resort. So it features an on-site spa and restaurant so it’s a mix of the cottage life with some city amenities. Anways, I have been LOVING palm print anything and everything these days. A few weeks ago I wore this palm print dress, here, and it’s still one of my most popular outfit posts. Something about palm print just screams Summer and I am obsessed! I found this off the shoulder palm print top from Zaful. It’s flowy and is the perfect top to throw on with a pair of white shorts and some kicks. I am really feeling the OTS trend and especially love wearing it with white. I love white pants, shorts, skirts. Lol, that’s another topic for another day though! Not only is this shirt really cute but it’s under $20! It’s a definitively a steal and a great top to add into your Summer wardrobe rotation!

Top 5 Aztec Skirts

One trend that always seems to repeat itself every single Summer would be the embroidered skirt. I absolutely love wearing embroidered skirts as soon as the warm weather hits . Floral embroidery is obviously a huge trend and I’ve rounded up my favourites for those here. But, there is just something about an aztec embroidered skirt that gives me all the Summer feels. And I just love pairing it with a fresh white tee for an easy Summer look! TOP 5 EMBROIDERED SKIRTS: Showpo (this counts as aztec print right?!) Boohoo (so cute in mint and under $20!) Madewell (probably the most similar to mine above) Missguided (you can always count on this retailer!) Revolve (need this in my life!!)

Spring Must: Floral Embroidered Top

Top: Missy Empire (under $25!) | Skirt: Forever 21 (don’t love it so similar here) | Shoes: Aldo (under $75) | Sunglasses: Quay | Purse: Zara Okay so I have been trying to incorporate as much embroidered pieces into my Spring and Summer wardrobe as possible! I am so excited that florals are back this season with a new twist. I mean I love the classic Spring florals. But, it’s just so refreshing to have a new twist on an old classic Spring staple. I’ve been living in denim skirts all Spring long so far. They are just super easy and go with everything! The thing about denim skirts though is they can sometimes make an outfit blah if the top is too basic. I love to make denim skirts more exciting by adding either texture or detail to the top. Hence, this embroidered ruffle sleeve top from Missy Empire. I am totally into a nice basic white top to pair endlessly with multiple outfits. But I do think that creating a little interest is important to have a pulled together look! I love the ruffle sleeves on this top and the beautiful detailed embroidered floral. They are so faaaab! This shirt from Missy Empire is great quality and even made in Italy! It fit’s true to size (I’m wearing the S/M) and is only $23!! Also, quick note. This denim skirt is from Forever 21. Honestly I don’t love the fit or the length. Because of that I’ve linked…

The Most Versatile LBD!

Dress: Missguided (50% off using code ‘gobabe’) | Shoes: Steve Madden (under $100) | Purse: Aldo | Sunglasses: Quay Up until recently my entire wardrobe consisted of 80% black. Truthfully, I was scared to wear colour and thought black was the easiest way to go. My wardrobe literally was black, white and grey! When I decided I wanted to start blogging I also decided I wanted to evolve my fashion too. I wanted to incorporate more colours, textures and patterns. And I wanted to try new styles I shied away from before! One style I always steered clear from was pleats. Why? I honestly don’t know, lol. I just never liked pleats and never wore them! So when I was browsing the Missguided website one day I came across this LBD with pleats. I was initially drawn to it because of the bell sleeves (I’m a huge fan of bell sleeves). So I purchased it and when it got delivered I HATED it! I was so so close to returning it but never got around to it. Looks like this procrastination worked in my favor because I decided to give it one last try…. and I LOVED it! Honestly, I don’t know why I disliked it so much when I first tried it on. But since actually giving it a try I have to say it’s probably one of the most versatile little black dresses I own. You can pair it with a heel and it looks good enough for a party or date night. And in the Summer you can put…

Dress: Mendocino (similar here and only $20!) | Jacket: H&M (sold out – similar here) | Shoes: Steve Madden | Sunglasses: Aldo (similar here) | Purse: Hieleven  I am truly a date night girl! I look forward to date night with Qais every week and I am a huge believer in ‘dating’ your spouse after marriage. Qais and I try to do date night once a week and keep it pretty simple, but fun. We usually do dinner but we do try to keep it exciting by trying to places to eat. We also love exploring new parts of the city and other local areas too! I, to no surprise, LOVE dressing up for date night. I would honestly by a new outfit for date night every week if I could, lol. But I obviously can’t, so I’ve come to be creative and have a pretty simple process on how to turn almost any look date night ready! 3 Easy Steps to Turn Any Look Into a Date Night Outfit: Step 1: Always Add a Heel You really can elevate any look by adding a pair of heels. This is a easy trick and can turn your weekend jeans into date night ready! In the summer I love adding a strappy sandal with a casual cotton dress or my favorite pair of jeans! My personal go to is a nude heel. But, a pop of colour or a classic black heel will also do the trick! Step 2: Pull out…
