Top 5 Ruffle Pieces you Need for Spring!

Top | Jeans | Shoes (similar) | Purse I don’t know if it’s the time change (and more, much needed, sun) but I’ve been SO excited for Spring! This March in Toronto has been pretty good with barely any snow and above 0 degree celsius days! I’m so ready to bust out lighter pieces and brighter colours for Spring! One trend I always love for Spring is ruffles. Ruffles are so classic and feminine and embody warm weather in my opinion. I’m so excited to add ruffle skirts and tanks to my warm weather wardrobe. But for now, I’ve been adding light knits and long sleeve top ruffles everywhere I possibly can! This ruffle top from Shop Basic Babe is seriously soft and great way to transition from the Winter cold to cooler Spring days. I personally love it tucked into a pair of distressed straight leg jeans. This combo has become my uniform as of late! So I’m celebrating these warmer and longer days with my top 5 ruffle pieces you need in your closet in Spring! Major Must Have: Kick Flare Jeans for Spring

Jeans (under $100)| Top (c/o) | Shoes (similar) | Purse | Hat OK, I once again found a new style that I am head over heels about! So if you’ve been following me for awhile, you’ll know I never used to be into jeans. Like not at all. I used to spend most Winter’s wearing skirts and tights. I literally stayed far, far away from jeans. As I started blogging, I really learned what I love in a pair of jeans. Firstly, I love quality in jeans. A good pair of jeans that will last wear after wear and wash after wash. I also love light wash jeans more than dark. And I love trying new styles of jeans. I also learned that all jeans fit differently and just because you’re one size in a certain pair of jeans, it doesn’t mean you’ll be the same size across the board! Which seems common knowledge, but I didn’t know that lol! So onto my new obsession. These kick flare jeans are SO good guys, like SO good! I’ve been a fan of Urban Outfitter’s BDG denim since last Summer! The quality and the fit are amazing for the price point. Now I’m trying to figure out what I keep buying Zara jeans, lol. Anyways, these kick flare jeans from BDG are killing it in fit and comfort. These babies are so lightweight and stretchy. And they are SO on trend right now, which is always a big win! I sized up from…

Trend to Try: Velvet for Spring

Dress | Shoes (similar) | Purse Velvet is a trend I haven’t been able to get enough of! I’m not usually a velvet kind of gal. But this season, I swear velvet styles have been SO good! I’ve purchased so many velvet dresses for weddings and for holidays. And I’m planning to continue to wear as much velvet as possible until temps truly warm up! If you haven’t tried velvet yet you are totally missing out! This past season velvet has been one of the hottest fabrics. And you can basically find any style in velvet. No matter what your personal style is, I guarantee there is a velvet piece out there for you! If you are a little hesitant with velvet, try a dress. A guest of wedding dress in a beautiful plush velvet fabric is beyond gorgeous. And so classy, in my opinion! I wore this velvet number to a wedding in November. And I am totally feeling wearing this velvet dress for another wedding I’m going to at the end of the month! All you need is a good nude heel and you are good to go! Any velvet pieces your loving lately? xo Lauren

Top 5 Wide Leg Trousers Currently in my Cart!

Pants (similar) | Top | Shoes (similar) | Purse Happy Friday! What a crazy week it has been! I started my week off in NYC, which always inspires me and makes me want to move there pronto! I told Qais we should move to NYC for a year then to LA where we actually want to end up lol. It was such a quick trip in and out of NYC. I was there buying for Shop Basic Babe. But for some reason, it took me 2 days to recover and to finally feel energized. It’s so weird how much travelling takes out of you! Although, I picked up some REALLY cute items for Shop Basic Babe. So I can’t wait to show you guys those pieces!! Anyways, I am SO into wide leg pants lately. I only own one pair, but I’m making it my mission to add much more for Spring. It was 14 degrees Celcius a couple days ago in Toronto. So I threw on this blouse and these white wide leg trousers for the ultimate Spring transition look! You Need Knits in Your Wardrobe this Summer! Here’s Why…

Top: H&M (under $30 and multiple colours!) | Shorts: H&M (on the small side size up!) | Purse: H&M | Sunglasses: Shades Crush c/o | Shoes: Aldo Since I’ve started blogging two things have happened. First, I’ve started trying so many styles and even colours I was way too scared to try before. And secondly, I’ve been on the lookout for good basics more then ever now. Before blogging my basics consisted of white and black tees. That’s it. I never really thought basics could be anything more! With that being said I’ve been looking for some basics that I could wear to work, for date night and with a pair of jeans. Something that could go with everything but still looked a little more polished then a white tee. I started seeing a lot of knits in the blogosphere with skirts, denim, and even knit dresses and thought that maybe I should add some knits into my wardrobe. I kinda went a little knit crazy and bought a few tanks at H&M lol! Obviously, I am obsessed with them now and wanted to share why: Firstly, knits are so so comfy and knits made for Summer are so lightweight and breathable. I love how soft this H&M knit is against my skin. Even in the humidity it doesn’t stick to my skin and allows some airflow in so I’m not left being sweaty and gross! They are literally so versatile. I’ve worn this single top three times already this week.…

Top 5 Must Have Shorts for Summer

Shorts: H&M (under $30 and available in black here)| Top: H&M (couldn’t find it online but similar here)  | Shoes: Vince | Purse: H&M (gold colour) | Sunglasses: Ray Ban| Watch: Daniel Wellington (15% off with code ‘LAURENEVA’) | Necklace: BaubleBar Happy Friday babes! Short season is officially here in Toronto and I’ve been filling my closet with so many different styles of shorts. I love shorts that are cute but most importantly cozy. Shorts that are too short or too stiff literally drive me crazy! I like a pair I can through on, look put together and go! Like most girls I love myself a pair of denim shorts. But high waisted shorts have my heart for so many reasons. They hide bloated I-ate-way-too-much-food bellies, hit the tiniest spot of your body and can basically go with any top! I found these navy high waisted shorts at H&M and I have worn them three times this week already! I just lurve them and think these may be my most fave pair this season! That being said, I decided to round up my top 5 pairs of shorts you need for Summer! Top 5 Must Have Shorts for Summer: 1.  H&M (mine above) 2. Urban Outfitters (the best mom shorts/90’s inspired) 3. Levi’s (love these!) 4. Missguided (want these so bad!!) 5. Wildfox (need these in my life!)

Currently Crushing On: Little White Shirt Dress

Dress: SheIn c/o (only $23.99!!) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar here) | Purse: H&M | Sunglasses: Aldo (similar here) Lately, I have been totally loving shirt dresses! They are so versatile, super easy to style and literally look good with any bag or shoe. I love wearing shirt dresses with a heeled sandals and a cute crossbody bag for a complete look! When I saw this shirt dress at Shein I knew I wanted it and loved how it was maxi length. I also loved how it was white because what girl doesn’t love a breezy white dress in the Summer? When I first tried it on Qais told me it looked like I was wearing a lab coat, lol! So I was honestly a little nervous to wear it out! But after he saw it styled he told me he liked it. So I hope he was telling the truth!! This dress fits true to size. It is majorly see through so just wear a slip under it! I’m just wearing a black bodycon skirt underneath because I couldn’t find a white or nude slip. It doesn’t have buttons which I wish it did. But overall it’s such an easy dress and perfect with a pair of sandals or heels! And it’s only $23.99 so you can’t go wrong adding this to your cart!

Spring Fave: Pleated Maxi Skirt

Skirt: Make Me Chic | Top: H&M| Purse: H&M | Hat: H&M (similar here) | Sandals: Forever 21 (similar here and here) | Watch: Rosefield | Sunglasses: Aldo (similar here) Happy Monday! Today’s look is an outfit I wore out for a day date with Qais on Sunday! I am a huge date night girl and I love to dress for it. But I find day dates a little harder to dress for if I don’t want to wear jeans and heels! Luckily this maxi skirt was the perfect choice for a comfortable and easy day date look! I haven’t been a huge fan of maxi skirts lately. I literally wore them out a few years ago and got really bored of them. This maxi in particular really caught my eye because of the pleating and how shiny it was (as weird as that sounds, lol!). I decided I would give the maxi skirt one last chance and I have to say I do really love it! I absolutely love the material and the pleating! It’s nice enough to dress up and wear to a wedding. Or you can dress it down like me with a basic white tee and sandals. I originally paired it with a hat but it was too windy to wear! I literally lost my hat like 10 times trying to shoot this look lol! This cute maxi is only $21.99 and fits more on the snug side. I would say size up as this skirt has zero stretch!
