My Go-To Summer Look w/ Marshalls

Dress (c/o Marshalls similar here and here) | Sandals | Purse (similar) Toronto has been hit with a SCORCHING hot heatwave this week which calls for the least amount of clothes possible, lol. But for real, when it get’s hot I love wearing easy and lightweight basics to get me through the day. Nothing is better than a lightweight t-shirt dress to keep my literally and figuratively cool! 😉 In the Summer, I am a huge sucker for basic dresses (no surprise there!) and a cute pair of heels. As a self-proclaimed heels girl, I totally swear by them for basically every outfit! My Summer hack to look put together is a t-shirt dress, espadrilles, and wavy beach hair. Seriously a never fail combo! And my summer go-to for the BEST selection of easy-breezy Summer dresses is Marshalls. I snagged so many CUTE basic t-shirt dresses from Marshalls that I’ve worn non-stop. Plus, all of them were under $30 so major score there! So if you’re looking to add a few hot weather approved dresses on a budget, then girl, Marshalls is your BFF! PS… My purse is from Marshalls too! xo Lauren SaveSave SaveSave SaveSave SaveSave

Friday Faves (it’s been awhile!)

Jumpsuit (from Marshalls – similar here) | Bag It’s been a HOT minute since I’ve done a Friday faves blog post! I love sharing all my interests with you guys (and I hope you like it too). So I decided to bring back one of my favorite blog posts to write! Maybe I’ll do it once a month so I can round up everything I’ve been loving. So let’s go! Friday Faves – What I’ve been loving lately: This workout right here! SO good! I love the personal trainer here too. He’s so good at keeping up the energy, he’s funny and I’ve learned a lot doing a few of his videos! His workout is definitely worth the try if you want to challenge yourself and feel the burn! I’ve been changing up where I’ve been shopping lately and obviously need to share it with you guys! Firstly, Marshalls contemporary section is so good you guys!! I got this Lucy Paris jumpsuit that I’m wearing above there. I’ve also been loving Revolve, Mura Boutique and F21 (which I haven’t shopped at for a while). Believe it or not, lately, my favorite dinners have been from Hello Fresh! If you haven’t tried it, DO IT! I did a campaign for them a few weeks ago and fell in love. Qais and I loved it so much we ordered 4 more dinners for next week. Plus, use my code ‘HELLOSHERIFF‘ for 3 FREE plates if you’re a new customer! I’ve been loving…

Denim for Spring with Marshalls

Top (50% off with code: savebabesave) | Jeans (similar) | Shoes c/o | Purse Happy Wednesday! I took a mini break from blogging and shooting new content over the Easter weekend so I could really enjoy time with family. Now I’m back and ready to talk everything fashion and bring you guys new looks. I’ve been talking a lot about denim recently. Specifically, my new found love for jeans! I recently wrote a blog post about my 5 must have jeans for Spring here. But little did I know, one of my fave retailers would be slaying the jean game! K, so guys, I recently took a trip to Marshalls and went straight to their contemporary section (my fave). And let me just say, their designer denim game is strong and SO cheap! I mean I got these jeans for $59 and they are regularly $118. Then, I snagged a pair of One Teaspoon jeans for… wait for it… $39! Those babies I’m wearing right here. I mean, damn, how are these beautiful designer jeans SO cheap and affordable. No idea, but I’ll take it, Marshalls, I’ll take it. So basically, this post is like an extension of last jean blog post. Because, if you are in the market for a killer pair of quality jeans for seriously the quarter of the price. Then, honey, you need to go to Marshall’s contemporary section NOW! You can thank me later. 😉 xo Lauren Thanks to Marshalls for collaborating with me on this…

How To Accessorize Minimally in 3 Easy Steps!

Dress: Marshalls | Shoes: Sam Edelman | Purse: H&M | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Choker: Mejuri  As you guys probably know, I am not huge into accessories and being blinged out, lol! I prefer keeping things minimal (hint the name Basic Babe) and classic. I’ve always had a bit of a love hate relationship with accessorizing because it feels like a must to finish off an outfit. But, at the same time, I don’t like wearing too much jewellery! For awhile I jumped on the band wagon of always wearing a watch, a statement necklace (are they still in?!), and sometimes earrings to complete my look. One of my favourite style icons, Lauren Conrad, definitely gave me some major inspo on this as she is pretty minimalistic when it comes to accessorizing herself! And as my style evolved I decided to take a whole new approach to the accessorizing part of my closet and try an LC. Which ultimately was keeping my jewellery simple and using other parts of my outfit to speak up! That being said, here are my 3 go-to steps to accessorizing my outfit minimally! How To Accessorize Minimally in 3 Easy Steps: 1. Get a purse with its own accessories! Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably seen that Chloe bag with the gold bracelet attached to it. And for those who haven’t here, it is here! It literally is to die for! Now, my budget sadly doesn’t allow for a beautiful purse like this. But…

3 Reasons to Ditch the LBD for A LBJ (little black jumpsuit)

Jumpsuit: Marshalls (only $29.99 – similar here, here, here) | Shoes: Dolce Vita (only $16.00 at Saks on 5th at the Fashion Outlets Niagara Falls, USA) | Clutch: H&M | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Bracelet: Paul Hewitt | Choker: Mejuri You guys, if you don’t already have a LBJ (little black jumpsuit) in your life you need one pronto! Think of the LBJ as the LBD’s cooler and more spontaneous little sister. It’s basically the best piece you will ever own in your closet for several reasons, but here are the 3 best reasons to grab one now! 3 Reasons to Ditch the LBD for A LBJ: 1.  They are so dang flattering! You’re probably thinking “Yeah and LBD’S are extremely flattering too!“. And I would totally agree except for one reason and one reason only. What LBD can be flowy, cosy like pj’s and flattering at the same time. None. Period. Now, not all LBJ’S are going to hit each of those points. BUT, wide leg jumpsuits are all the rage right now. So chances are you’re gonna be able to find a jumpsuit that is amazingly flattering and perfect for dancing, moving in general, and most importantly eating! No sucking in required. 2. They are a dime a dozen but yet nobody has them! This point is pretty awesome. Basically, every major retailer is carrying multiple styles of the LBJ, yet, not many people are rocking them! Because of this, guaranteed the LBJ you score will have major heads turning…

Cottage Ready with Marshalls

Dress: Marshalls | Shoes: Adidas | Jean Jacket: Similar | Purse: Old Navy Cottage season is in full swing here and even though I don’t own a cottage myself, I love to have a few pieces that are cottage ready for the occasion! Since I only go to the cottage once or twice a year I try to find versatile pieces that I can wear every day too. One of my favorite pieces to be cozy in is a loose dress and a pair of kicks! I’m not a type of girl to spend too much on casual pieces, to be honest with you. I like to splurge on nicer items rather than denim shorts and comfy dresses. When I need to fill up my closet with some cottage pieces and basic essentials I try to spend as little as possible. That’s why Marshalls is my go-to for cottage and everyday pieces! So I knew I had to look there first! I’ve already stocked up on my denim shorts, leggings and basic tees for the cottage season. But, I really wanted some throw on and go dresses that can be dressed down with some sneaks and dressed up with some wedges. I know some of you may be thinking “this dress seems unpractical for the cottage” but the cottage the hubs and I go to is more of a resort. So this really is cottage wear to me, lol! This dress really is different than any other in my closet! I guess it’s…
