4 Easy Tips You Need to Shop at Boohoo

Top (sold out – similar) | Blazer (50% off) | Skirt I am a big believer in buying trendy threads at cheap prices! When it comes to super trendy pieces, I LOVE shopping at places like Boohoo. They literally always have 50% off  (for real) and they offer a massive selection of pieces. Because I’m a lover of trendy pieces for cheap I wanted to share 4 easy ways to shop Boohoo’s crazy selection like a pro! 4 Easy Tips You Need to Shop at Boohoo: 1. Know all the measurements: Just like shopping at any other online retailer, it’s important to know your measurements. Make sure to take measurements of your waist, hips, bust and keep them written down close to your computer. Then, when you find a piece you love you can make an informed decision on what size to purchase by using Boohoo’s size chart. Also, keep in mind Boohoo is a UK retailer and has the UK sizes listed on each product. Be sure to cross-check the size chart and find what your UK size is by finding your US size. I’m generally a size 8 UK and a size Small and 6 US, for reference. 2. Shop Boohoo’s category “Get the Look” Whenever I’m casually browsing Boohoo, but want to make sure I snag something trendy, I always shop under the category “Get the Look”. Boohoo has made online shopping super easy by categorizing what’s really trendy at the moment.  Currently, under that category, they…

OTS Top and Frills

Top (50% off!) | Shorts (50% off!) | Sandals | Purse Guys, if it was last year at this time, you wouldn’t catch me in shorts! You honestly wouldn’t even catch me in frills! I don’t know what is going on but my love for shorts this season is REAL! And I’ve been digging these ruffle pair from Boohoo, which are now 50% off. I’ve just been so into experimenting with my style this year. After just over a year of blogging, I’ve definitely become more open to trying new styles. Now I am definitely not saying I’m taking risks with fashion by any means, lol! But I am so excited to just try new things. Like shorts! Seriously, shorts and I have never been friends until this Summer. And I have to say I am totally about them! I also snagged this off the shoulder top from Boohoo for 50% off. Now it’s super cute and screams Summer. But the fit is a little wonky! I’m not sure if it’s maybe because I bought too big of a size. But I would suggest ordering your size in hopes it won’t constantly slip down like mine, lol! Talking about sales. Today is the first day the Nordstrom is public! I’m not a cardholder so I’m going to brave going to Nordstrom and hoping to snag a few styles! Happy Friday! xo Lauren

So where should I start… WORK LIFE: Firstly, life has been HECTIC since Shop Basic Babe has started. Now, SBB isn’t my first business. I owned a children’s store before. But man, is SBB teaching me SO much. I feel like once you own your own business, you kinda feel like you know what you’re doing. But I’m learning I don’t. I’m so thankful I have such a great team helping me with SBB. I am learning soooo much about branding, marketing and really how to make an online business work. And it seriously is more work then I expected. So naive I know. Overall, the online shop has been a hustle but so good at the same time! My blog is getting a facelift – which is much needed! So excited to show you guys the reveal. It was just time to freshen it up and re-brand. I’ve also felt like it was just time. My blog and brand has grown and changed so much in the past year and I really wanted to reflect that! And in other EXCITING news… my husband (who…

Mixing Summer and Fall Pieces

Bodysuit: Missguided | Skirt: Boohoo | Bag: Similar | Watch: Daniel Wellington c/o | Sunglasses: Shades Crush c/o | Shoes: J Adams c/o Happy Monday! It has been BRUTALLY hot here in Toronto. Summer decided to come at Fall, which is great, and I’ll take it, but it would’ve been nice to have this weather last month, lol! When I shot this look I was seriously dripping sweat. I don’t know why I decided to wear a sweater bodysuit, but hey, in the name of fashion, right? The one perk about this warm Summer weather is getting a little extra wear out of my Summer wardrobe. I love incorporating Summer pieces where I can and they can sometimes make the cutest outfits! I bought this gingham skirt from Boohoo in July (I think). Gingham has been huge this past season and I really love the print! I’ve also been adding in some long sleeves and sweaters for Fall. When I saw this mustard rib bodysuit from Missguided I knew it had to be mine. I love bodysuits and not having to keep tucking my top in. Plus, the off the shoulder on this bodysuit just makes it that much more fun! Also, I think it’s time for a few new purses here at Basic Babe!! I’ve been rocking the same few non-stop all Summer. Does anyone else have a hard time find purses they love to add to the rotation?! xo Lauren

Summer Crush: The White Midi Skirt

Bodysuit: Boohoo (my fave ‘skinny’ bodysuit!) | Skirt: Boohoo (sale!) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar) | Purse: Foley + Corinna | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Bracelet: Paul Hewitt I would say I am a definite skirt girl through and through. I love the ease of wearing skirts and the endless pairing options wearing skirts come with. But, like most women, I have a type I tend to always gravitate to. And that would be the mini skirt. I’ve been a huge fan of the mini skirt for years now, probably since high school. But as I’m getting older, I’m finding I want pieces that are classier and have more coverage! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not giving up the mini, I’ve just fallen in love with the midi skirt! Now, depending on your height midi’s may not be for you. I feel like I just make the cut off at 5″5 and if I was any shorter I may have really made myself look short! What I love about wearing a midi skirt is how classy you feel! It really makes you feel like a lady, lol. I know that’s totally lame but it definitely gives off total feminine vibes. This one here is from Boohoo and I paired it with one of my favourite bodysuits (makes you like like 10x smaller!). The skirt fits TTS but the bodysuit is a little snug if you order your true size. I mean it’s a bodysuit so it should be snug, but if you’d…

I don’t really share too much about myself as this blog is about all things fashion. But, it’s always fun to get to know somebody a little better right? I actually hit 20k last month and have been planning a blog post to my tips on growing 20k in 6 months. I’m still planning on doing this post but think I’m gonna do it as a YouTube video instead. I feel talking about it is easier than typing about it. If that makes sense! That post will be coming shortly, so follow me here on Instagram or subscribe to the newsletter so you won’t miss out. But in the meantime here are 20 random facts about me: 20 Random Facts About Me!: I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Qais, and we have been together for almost 10 years this March! My favorite breed of dog is a rottweiler and swear it’s the only dog I’ll have as a pet (excluding my hubs Olde Boston Bulldogge) I’ve owned 2 horses in my life – Obie (Welsh Cob), and Blue (Dutch Warmblood) I used to horseback ride competitively with both of my horses and my discipline of choice was hunter/jumper My…

My Top 5 Denim Dresses for Spring!

Dress: Boohoo (only $35!) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe | Purse: BP (similar here) | Sunglasses: Shades Crush c/o Okay, I know I say this a lot buuuut….. I have a new obsession! Denim dresses! I have to say at first I wasn’t completely sold on wearing denim as a dress. Heck, I barely wear denim as jeans. BUT, I decided to give it a go and see if I liked it or not! And I have to say, I. Am. SOLD! So I first started considering denim dresses when I saw Dress Up Buttercup wear it here. I loved it but didn’t think I could pull it off! I kept thinking about this dress over and over (clearly I need to get a life, lol!). And wanted to buy it but didn’t want to spend that much on a dress I loved but didn’t know if I would love on me. When I was shopping the Boohoo sale a few weeks back (everything was 50% off!), I saw this chambray dress I’m wearing. It looked cute, easy to wear and super easy to style. So I made the plunge and added the darker wash to my cart! When I first tried it on I was 100% loving it. And disclaimer, I don’t love the 3/4 length sleeves on this dress. They are super tight and don’t button up! But, other then the sleeves I absolutely love this dress! It’s really more of a chambray dress then denim, but I think it’s close enough! It’s a great dress…

My Top 5 Embroidered Skirts for Spring!

Bodysuit: Boohoo (only $16!) | Skirt: Boohoo | Shoes: Le Chateau (similar here and here) | Purse: Aldo (similar here) | Sunglasses: Aldo (similar here) So this Spring I decided I wanted to try as many trends as I can. I mean the fact that my blog is called Basic Babe tells you I like to keep my outfits pretty ‘basic’ most of time. As in, I don’t wear a lot of accessories, I don’t mix crazy patterns, and I definitely don’t jump on every trend! But that being said, having this blog is definitely pushing me outside of my comfort zone which has been a really good thing! I’m finding myself more interested in trying new trends and new styles more then ever before! Not that this trend is a crazy one by any means, but, I do believe it is a trend that can easily be worn and styled by just about anyone. Florals are an obvious given in Springtime for most which makes embroirded florals a pretty easy trend to love! When I saw the embroiderery trend begin last Fall I definitely didn’t think I’d be into it. It reminded me of my childhood and all the embroidered denim my mom bought for me. At the time, embroidered denim was kinda cool but I just couldn’t shake thinking of elementary school when I looked at it. I can’t say I’m all in with this embroidered trend just quite yet. But I am loving embroidered denim skirts like no tomorrow!…
