Weekend Away With The Baby Checklist (6-12m)

Just a few weeks ago, Poppy, Q and I took a 2 night trip to the June Motel Sauble Beach. It was a much needed mini vacay and the memories we made were so worth the hustle and bustle of trying to pack for a family of 3, including a 6 month old. I was pretty proud of how I packed for Poppy and I didn’t forget a thing! So to help make your mama life easier, I’ve created a weekend away checklist for babies 6-12 months old!

1st Birthday Gift Guide

With that being said, Poppy turning one is truly bitter sweet. I love her toddler like personality but I do miss the days of her being so tiny. I will say that I am loving planning and shopping for her first birthday. I love the idea of beautiful toys and gifts that will help her development as she enters toddlerhood. So scroll below for a few of my favourite finds for a one year old!

Why I’m Cancelling My Life Insurance (And Why You Should Too)

As a new mama, I’m always thinking about Poppy’s future, what that looks like and how I can keep her safe. Poppy’s safety is something I think about on a daily basis, but what about her future and what if something were to happen to Q and I? With that being said, I knew that life insurance was something I needed for my family, but my prior experiences getting life insurance have always been confusing and negative. Let me tell you why I’m cancelling my life insurance… The reason why I wanted to talk about life insurance on my blog is because I got sucked in to getting life insurance that I didn’t want when I bought my house. It was a part of the bank’s must- haves for me in order to qualify for my mortgage. Of course I wanted life insurance, but not being able to choose my coverage or have a simple yes or no choice was a deterrent. So it left me with a bad taste in my mouth and made me feel trapped. After the lengthy health questions over the phone, which were full of medical jargon that I didn’t understand, I was told I’d know if I qualified in a few weeks. About 3 or 4 weeks later I got a letter in the mail that said I am eligible for life insurance and my coverage was $xxx, xxx, based on my current health and age. It stated the monthly cost that would be automatically…

4 Tips on How We’re Building & Growing Poppy’s Wealth

It may feel like forever away if you have a baby, but thinking about your baby’s finances early can make a huge difference in their financial future. Qais and I have already been making financial decisions for Poppy and talking about what her future is going to look like financially. Since, Qais is already in the financial industry he knew that getting her set up now, as young as possible, was the smartest thing to do to ensure Poppy is secure and safe when she gets older. When it comes to finances for myself, I’m honestly not that organized so thinking about saving for Poppy and making her plans for her financial future definitely had me feeling overwhelmed. So I’m going to share a few tips with you guys on how Qais and I have organized ourselves to be able try and meet her financial goals plus a few other tips we’ve been doing as well!   1. Organize all your finances in one place So prior to downloading the Hardbacon app I honestly had all of our finances everywhere. We had all of our joint accounts in one place and that’s actually two places because we have multiple bank accounts. We had our investments in another place. And our budget was on an Excel sheet (really who’s isn’t right?!). It was just becoming too hard to keep track of everything until I downloaded the Hardbacon app. For those of you who don’t already know, Hardbacon is a financial app…

7 Tips for Going to the Beach with a Baby

Because Summer is in full swing, Qais and I like to hit the beach weekly and soak up this short lived season. Before having Poppy you could honestly find us at the beach multiple times of week. Although we don’t hit the beach as often anymore, we still like to get sand in our toes and enjoy the beach as much as we can.

How I Manage Motherhood While Working Full-Time: Spilling ALL the Beans!

So recently I asked on my Instagram stories what topics regarding motherhood were you guys most interested in me writing about. And honestly, I got a lot of HOW DO INFLUENCERS DO IT ALL? or HOW ARE YOU MANAGING WORKING AND MAMAHOOD?! And as I sit here with Poppy on my lap, smashing my keyboard, clicking my mouse and just generally causing chaos, I’m going to spill all. the. beans. on how I manage both motherhood and running my business full-time. Okay so, what’s the secret to all these mama influencers who run a business, do their wifely duties and be a mama without missing a beat? Well, honestly… A nanny lol. But, no really, that’s usually the secret that they don’t want to tell you. And although I have nothing against a little help, I wanted to share how I stay productive (hint: it’s not a nanny). Scroll below to read how I manage motherhood while working full-time. How I Manage Motherhood While Working Full-time: Spilling ALL the Beans!: 1. Pay for services that save you time I know that I may get a little slack for this but if you are in a position to pay for services to save you time, then do it! What’s changed my life as a mama and a business owner has been grocery delivery and having a cleaner come and clean my entire home bi-weekly. Prior to paying for these services, I used to spend hours a week on cleaning and a…

9 Things I Wish I Knew About Motherhood 9 Months Ago!

Okay, so Poppy will be 9 months on June 5th. And as the saying goes, time truly does fly once your baby is earthside. I honestly felt like 9 months pregnant felt like an eternity. Now I’m 9 months into motherhood and oddly enough felt like reflecting at Poppy’s 9 month mark. Reflecting on my past 9 months as a mother, Poppy’s past 9 months as a baby and reflecting on things I wish I knew or things I wish I was told. Which is why I wanted to write a blog post hoping that another new mama would stumble upon it to help prepare her for what motherhood is actually like besides what you see when scrolling on Instagram. Skirt: Revolve | Top: Aritzia | Sandals: Zara | Hat: Lack of Colour (via FigJam.TO) 9 Things I Wish I Knew About Motherhood 9 Months Ago:   1. Postpartum is a slow and hard journey Let’s start at the birth of your baby and the birth of a mama, literally. Postpartum is no joke. And even though you hear about how hard it is, I’m not sure if anything can prepare you for what to expect. For me, I thought I’d bounce back, HAHA! And not bounce back like get my body back. No, I already gave myself 6 months postpartum to “bounce back” (spoiler, I’m 9 months pp and still haven’t lost all the baby weight so the joke is truly on my pre-mama me). But I meant bounce…
