Top 5 Rompers for Summer

Romper: Missguided (50% off with code: americanbabe) | Shoes: Aldo (under $100!) | Clutch: H&M | Sunglasses: Quay Summer so far has been strange, weather wise! I love a hot Summer and so far are weather here in Toronto has been really up and down. Plus, we’ve had a ton of rain which sucks obviously! I haven’t had much of a chance to rock rompers this season, but a few days ago it was warm enough for this cute number! Rompers really are the best for scorching hot days! I love rompers that are ultra lightweight and have a nice soft material. I also like full bum coverage (because who want’s their derriere hanging out?!). It’s always hit or miss with me when it comes to rompers. Some just hit me in a weird spot, others are too short and some are itchy and uncomfortable. So finding the perfect Summer romper is a bit of a struggle, in my opinion! But when you find it you really do hit gold! My romper is from Missguided and basically, hits all my must have in a romper list. It is so so so so soft! Like super soft. It’s lightweight and is the perfect length. I love the tropical print and the ruffle sleeves are the cutest! Qais says this is one of his fave pieces in my closet too! Even better it’s only $40 and it’s 40% off (along with everything else on Missguided’s website) with code ‘americanbabe‘! Top 5 Rompers for…

Cottage Ready with Marshalls

Dress: Marshalls | Shoes: Adidas | Jean Jacket: Similar | Purse: Old Navy Cottage season is in full swing here and even though I don’t own a cottage myself, I love to have a few pieces that are cottage ready for the occasion! Since I only go to the cottage once or twice a year I try to find versatile pieces that I can wear every day too. One of my favorite pieces to be cozy in is a loose dress and a pair of kicks! I’m not a type of girl to spend too much on casual pieces, to be honest with you. I like to splurge on nicer items rather than denim shorts and comfy dresses. When I need to fill up my closet with some cottage pieces and basic essentials I try to spend as little as possible. That’s why Marshalls is my go-to for cottage and everyday pieces! So I knew I had to look there first! I’ve already stocked up on my denim shorts, leggings and basic tees for the cottage season. But, I really wanted some throw on and go dresses that can be dressed down with some sneaks and dressed up with some wedges. I know some of you may be thinking “this dress seems unpractical for the cottage” but the cottage the hubs and I go to is more of a resort. So this really is cottage wear to me, lol! This dress really is different than any other in my closet! I guess it’s…

Summer Must: Khaki Green Anything!

Top: H&M (only $24.99!!) | Skirt: H&M (under $40!!) | Shoes: Steve Madden (under $100) | Purse: H&M (on sale for $14.99!!) | Sunglasses: Ray Ban | Watch: Daniel Wellington (Daniel Wellington (15% off with code: LAURENEVA) Okay, earthy greens have always been my jam! I’ve always been a huge fan of khaki green, olive green, and hunter green. I really do think these greens look good on almost anybody. And they have a way of making an outfit feel classier (in my opinion!). Usually, these earthy greens tend to be more of a Fall trend then Summer. Luckily this Summer 17′ khaki green is the thing! Pretty much any retailer, whether big or small, will be carrying khaki green this season! I’ve literally seen it everywhere and in every style. But, this skirt has to be my favorite khaki green item in my closet! Not only am I swooning over the colour. But the detailing is just soooo right! I love the gold buttons, the fabric belt with the gold D rings and my favorite of all; the asymmetric foldover over the top! It’s made from Lyocell so it has a soft and lightweight feel. It fits true to size and is only $34.99! Another perk… is that this baby can work its way into early Fall! Vaikų vasaros dienos stovyklos Kaune https://intellectus.lt/dienos-stovykla/ Yay! I’ve also linked some of my fave khaki green items so far below! xo Lauren

Top 5 Ruffle Dresses for any Occasion

Dress: ASOS (under $40!!) | Shoes: Steve Madden | Clutch: H&M | Sunglasses: Quay Happy Friday! This has been one heck of a long week for me. I am so glad it’s finally wrapping up and I’m excited for the next few weeks ahead! Qais and I are putting our house up on the market and downsizing to a condo. We are so excited to be entering into a new season in our life. And we are really looking forward to being close to the city! We’ve lived in suburbia for the past two years and have been talking about moving closer to the city. We just haven’t made the plunge until now!! So pray for us that our house will sell quickly and that we’ll find a pet-friendly condo in the city! Anyways, that’s just a quick update on our life so far! But today’s post is all about my favorite ruffle dresses for the Summer season. I love to have a few cocktail dresses in my wardrobe for any fun Summer parties, weddings and for fancier dinners out. Right now I am really feeling statement dresses and I am in particular loving ruffles! As you probably know, ruffles have made a pretty big comeback this season and you can find them on almost everything! I think ruffles are the perfect girly and flirty accent to really give any piece a fun and bold twist. Just like these sleeves on my dress from Boohoo (which is under $40, by the way!!).…

3 Reasons Why You Should Dress-Up for Day Dates

Dress: ASOS (under $60!) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar) | Purse: H&M | Sunglasses: Aldo (similar) So if you haven’t already noticed, Qais and I are super serious about our weekly dates. We’ve been together for almost 10 years. And we really do believe in the importance of dating your spouse. We usually go on a date night weekly. And we also add in some impromptu day dates after we’re done shooting for the blog. I used to be pretty casual dressing up for day dates. Usually a pair of jeans, sandals or flats and a cute tee or blouse. But since some of our dates are after shooting some looks for the blog, I have become pretty obsessed with dressing for day dates! That being said, here are my 3 reasons why you, girl, should be dressing up for day dates: 1.Because you get major use out of your wardrobe! The great thing about dressing up for day dates is you can pretty much throw anything on from your wardrobe! I love pairing some trousers from work with a cute blouse and sandals. Or a dress with one of my favorite heels (like the pair above). I am a huge believer and having your wardrobe work for you in every way. So it doesn’t hurt to have your work wardrobe “work” for dates too! 2. Because you can play around with some #trendingoutfits I personally don’t play around with trends for date night, for the most part. Especially if…

Currently Crushing On: Eyelet and Ruffles LBD

Dress: H&M (only $19!!!) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar) | Purse: Aldo (similar) | Sunglasses: Aldo (similar) | Lipstick: CoverGirl Katy Perry Coral Cat Okay, this dress is everythaaaang! But seriously, it actually is the perfect LBD. It has everything you’re looking for in a LBD. The ruffles and eyelets combined make it the perfect combo that you can wear almost anywhere! To think I was about to pass up on this dress too! I saw it at H&M and showed Qais. He told me he didn’t like it at all, so I decided to pass. He’s kinda like my brain for shopping, lol! Sometimes I get so overwhelmed and want everything. So what I do is ask him to see if he likes it and if he doesn’t I usually pass! But I kept coming back to the dress thinking maybe I could pull it off. I’ve never bought an LBD with eyelets and ruffles before. And I generally don’t buy many things with ruffles or eyelets either! I decided to take a super quick look at the price (cause ya never know…) and once I saw it was only $19 I knew I was gonna try it! So basically making a long story short is I wore it once for work and couldn’t stop wearing it! I’ve worn it 5 times in one week which I usually don’t do with any of my clothes. But it’s so so good that I just can’t stop, lol!! It is see…

You Need Knits in Your Wardrobe this Summer! Here’s Why…

Top: H&M (under $30 and multiple colours!) | Shorts: H&M (on the small side size up!) | Purse: H&M | Sunglasses: Shades Crush c/o | Shoes: Aldo Since I’ve started blogging two things have happened. First, I’ve started trying so many styles and even colours I was way too scared to try before. And secondly, I’ve been on the lookout for good basics more then ever now. Before blogging my basics consisted of white and black tees. That’s it. I never really thought basics could be anything more! With that being said I’ve been looking for some basics that I could wear to work, for date night and with a pair of jeans. Something that could go with everything but still looked a little more polished then a white tee. I started seeing a lot of knits in the blogosphere with skirts, denim, and even knit dresses and thought that maybe I should add some knits into my wardrobe. I kinda went a little knit crazy and bought a few tanks at H&M lol! Obviously, I am obsessed with them now and wanted to share why: Firstly, knits are so so comfy and knits made for Summer are so lightweight and breathable. I love how soft this H&M knit is against my skin. Even in the humidity it doesn’t stick to my skin and allows some airflow in so I’m not left being sweaty and gross! They are literally so versatile. I’ve worn this single top three times already this week.…

Top 5 Jumpsuits for Summer!

Jumpsuit: Shein (only $25!) | Purse: H&M | Sunglasses: Aldo (similar) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar) Happy Hump Day! The weather is finally starting to get warm here in Toronto which makes me think of a lightweight and versatile wardrobe. I absolutely love the heat and I love dressing for the heat even more. I am totally not a layering girl so thinking of warm rays against my skin gets me so giddy, lol! One of my favourite Summer pieces is the jumpsuit. It’s one and done and always a good idea! I’ve been curious about trying a jumpsuit but wasn’t sure if it would flatter my body shape. And I wasn’t sure if I’d like pants at the bottom. I’ve been seeing them everywhere on Instagram so I really wanted to give it a try. I decided to play it safe and stick with black with pleats for some added chicness. I have to say I love, love, love this jumpsuit and it’s just so cozy and easy! It literally feels like I’m wearing my pj’s lol! And because of my new found obsession with the jumpsuit I decided to round my top 5 favorite jumpsuits of the season!: Top 5 Jumpsuits for Spring: SheIn (mine and it’s under $30!) Summer Must-Have: The Perfect Pair of Sunnies with Made Eyewear

Sunglasses: Made Eyewear ($20 off with code LAUREN20) | Bodysuit: Mendocino (similar) | Pants: Mendocino (similar) | Shoes: Charlotte Russe (similar) | Purse: H&M Sunnies and me go together like peanut butter and jelly, lol! Seriously, I’m pretty sure you can’t find a recent picture of me without my sunglasses on. I literally do not leave my house without my favourite pair of sunglasses on and my car is basically the home to my any pairs of sunglasses. And I honestly feel like no outfit is complete without the perfect pair of shades. My sunnies usually consist of cat eye style lenses or oversized lenses. I also tend to buy sunglasses that are cheap and mainly for style. But I recently had the opportunity to select a pair of sunglasses from Made Eyewear. They have an amazing selection of sunglasses and optical glasses. And even better is that you can customize the lens type in your glasses to really suit your needs! Another perk is that most of Made Eyewear’s sunglasses are unisex. I don’t know about you but my hubby and I love to swap sunglasses when possible. And it’s pretty much more possible for me then him as all mine usually tend to be very girly, lol! So he loves the Hudson style too since he can wear mine finally!! I chose the Hudson style sunglasses because I wanted to get a more sophisticated pair of sunglasses. I wanted a pair of sunnies I could wear to…

Top 5 Must Have Shorts for Summer

Shorts: H&M (under $30 and available in black here)| Top: H&M (couldn’t find it online but similar here)  | Shoes: Vince | Purse: H&M (gold colour) | Sunglasses: Ray Ban| Watch: Daniel Wellington (15% off with code ‘LAURENEVA’) | Necklace: BaubleBar Happy Friday babes! Short season is officially here in Toronto and I’ve been filling my closet with so many different styles of shorts. I love shorts that are cute but most importantly cozy. Shorts that are too short or too stiff literally drive me crazy! I like a pair I can through on, look put together and go! Like most girls I love myself a pair of denim shorts. But high waisted shorts have my heart for so many reasons. They hide bloated I-ate-way-too-much-food bellies, hit the tiniest spot of your body and can basically go with any top! I found these navy high waisted shorts at H&M and I have worn them three times this week already! I just lurve them and think these may be my most fave pair this season! That being said, I decided to round up my top 5 pairs of shorts you need for Summer! Top 5 Must Have Shorts for Summer: 1.  H&M (mine above) 2. Urban Outfitters (the best mom shorts/90’s inspired) 3. Levi’s (love these!) 4. Missguided (want these so bad!!) 5. Wildfox (need these in my life!)
